PioneerX’s story begins with the founders: father & son

In Caleb’s senior year of high school, he faced a challenging situation that forced him to leave home. He moved an hour away from his school and friends and often wanted to give up on everything. He felt displaced and alone. However, he worked with his teachers and school staff to be able to take online classes and secured a job as a waiter in a fine-dining restaurant. In January of 2023, Caleb was given the opportunity to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) with his father, Joel Phillips, founder of Siglo (YC S21). Without hesitation, he instantly said yes! During this experience, Caleb met incredible people and grew his network to include some of the most inspirational individuals who profoundly impacted his life. Additionally, he met and was allowed to work alongside Lan Tschirky, founder of Lan Health / Lan Space. Once again, he said yes and moved to Switzerland. Caleb traveled to Italy, Switzerland, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi while working closely with the founder. He experienced the real world of tech and startups up close: meeting incredible people, joining meetings, developing products, and expanding his innovative mind. After working with Lan Health, Caleb returned to the U.S. to graduate. The staff at his school asked him to give a speech for the graduating award ceremony. Despite only setting foot into the school eight times that year, he graduated and was recognized for his perseverance and real-world experience. Post-graduation, Caleb went to Mexico to work on a few AI projects with Joel. While doing that, Caleb was given yet another opportunity to work with a YC company called Orangewood Labs, a robotics company. The idea for PioneerX was born out of Caleb’s senior year experience. Together he and Joel decided to move ahead with this vision of an alternative way to learn and gain real-world experience.
